Welcome to the Banjo Bible!

Welcome to the Banjo Bible – the greatest story ever told, as Banjo Paterson might have told it. With some help from Dorothea Mackellar, John O’Brien, and me!
It’s a short poetic overview of the Bible – from the Book of Genesis in the Old Testament to the Book of Revelation in the New Testament. Each poem is based on the famous Australian poem of the title.
The Old Testament, as you’ll read, is mainly about the family of one man called Abraham. Abraham didn’t have any kids until he was quite old, but soon his descendants would become the Lord’s chosen people – the nation of Israel.
The New Testament is about God creating a people for himself, not just from one nation, but from folk all over the earth. And so the book of Revelation ends with a vision of a great city of the future, where all of God’s people will enjoy him forever. Amen!
Before each poem there’ll be a little extract from the Bible to give you some background and hopefully fill in any gaps between the various stories. You can also click on the title to find some more explanation of each poem.
Enjoy!
